How to Choose the Best Family Dentist in Bethlehem, PA

How to Choose the Best Family Dentist in Bethlehem, PA.

Choosing a family dentist is not the same as picking a restaurant. You are not trying something once and moving on if it does not work out. You are choosing a practice where your kids will learn whether the dentist is scary or not, where you will go when something unexpected happens, and where someone will know your dental history well enough to catch things before they become problems.

In Bethlehem, PA, there are options. So what should you actually be looking for, beyond whoever comes up first when you search “best dentist Bethlehem PA” or “family dentist near me”? Here is a straightforward breakdown of what matters most.

Start with Credentials: But Do Not Stop There

Every licensed dentist in Pennsylvania holds a degree, either a DMD (Doctor of Dental Medicine) or DDS (Doctor of Dental Surgery). Both degrees represent the same level of training. What distinguishes practices beyond that is continuing education, specialized training, and how consistently the team stays current with advances in dental care.

At Marcincin Family Dental, our team includes Dr. Terry Marcincin, who graduated from Dartmouth College and completed his Doctor of Dental Medicine from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, where he was awarded the Clinical Excellence Award. He completed a general residency at Muhlenberg Hospital Center and has been practicing in Bethlehem for over 40 years. He is an active member of the American Dental Association and the Pennsylvania Dental Association, and maintains ongoing continuing education.

Dr. Corry Marcincin brings a patient-centered focus and follows this approach with a background in community outreach and a commitment to addressing patients’ specific dental health needs gently.

Dr. Bryan Hilton received his Bachelor of Arts from Western State College of Colorado and his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Temple University Kornberg School of Dentistry, where he graduated with honors and was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society, a distinction based on both academic achievement and personal character. He completed his general practice residency at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Denver, where he provided comprehensive dental care to veterans with complex medical needs. Beyond general dentistry, Dr. Hilton has additional education and training in oral surgery, implantology, cosmetic dentistry, periodontics, prosthodontics, and endodontics. He is an active member of the American Dental Association and the Pennsylvania Dental Association, has received numerous awards in the field, and gives back through community programs, including Smile at Kids, Colorado Mission of Mercy, and MOM-n-PA. Patients who have sat in his chair consistently describe someone who takes time to actually know them, not just their chart.

Credentials tell you the floor. The ceiling is built from experience, how the team treats people, and whether they keep learning.

Make Sure They Can See Your Whole Family

The practical value of a true family dental practice is that you are not managing three different offices, three sets of records, and three separate phone numbers. Everyone gets care in one place, from the same team that knows your history.

What that actually requires is a practice structured to handle patients at genuinely different stages of life, not just adults who occasionally bring a child along.

Marcincin Family Dental in Bethlehem sees patients from their first birthday through adulthood. That means pediatric-appropriate exams and cleanings for toddlers, sealants and fluoride treatments for school-age children, orthodontic monitoring for teenagers, and the full range of restorative and cosmetic services for adults. When you call to book the whole family, one practice can handle it.

Look at the Full Range of Services

A dentist who only does basic cleanings and fillings is going to refer you out constantly, sometimes for things that could reasonably be handled in-house. That means more appointments, more travel, and more coordination. A comprehensive family dental clinic handles most of what your family needs without the handoff.

At Marcincin Family Dental, care is provided in one convenient location across several categories:

Family and General Dentistry: cleanings, exams, preventive care, and X-rays

Cosmetic Dentistry: teeth whitening, veneers, and smile enhancements

Restorative Dentistry: crowns, bridges, and tooth repair

Emergency Dental Care: same-day appointments for pain or dental injuries

Dental Implants: permanent tooth replacement for missing teeth

Invisalign: clear aligner orthodontic treatment for teens and adults

Root Canal Therapy: infection treatment using modern techniques and technology

Having this range available under one roof is not just convenient. It means continuity. The dentist who does your routine care is the same one who knows the full context if something more significant comes up.

Pay Attention to How They Handle New Patients and Emergencies

Pay Attention to How They Handle New Patients and Emergencies

The way a practice treats you before you become a regular patient tells you something real about how they operate. Is the first call answered by a person, or does it go to voicemail? Do they explain what to expect at a new patient visit? Are they clear about how they handle emergencies?

Dental emergencies do not plan themselves. A chipped tooth at 7 pm, a child with a toothache on a Thursday morning, a crown that comes off the day before you leave for a work trip. The practices that handle this well are the ones worth staying with.

At Marcincin Family Dental, the team makes every effort to accommodate emergency dental visits quickly to relieve pain and address urgent concerns. Same-day appointments for pain or dental injuries are part of how the practice operates, not an exception that requires negotiating.

When you call a practice for the first time, notice how you are treated. That interaction is the preview.

Understand the Financial Side Before You Commit

Dental costs are a real factor in choosing a practice, and a good dental home should be transparent about them before treatment begins. Ask whether the practice explains costs upfront, whether there are options for patients without insurance, and what the process is for larger treatments.

Marcincin Family Dental offers an in-house membership plan for uninsured patients. It covers preventive care through a simple monthly or annual subscription, no insurance paperwork, no claim denials, and no pre-approvals. Enrollment takes about 90 seconds and gives immediate access to benefits. For patients who do carry insurance, the practice works with you to understand your coverage before any treatment begins.

Transparency about cost is not just a convenience. It is a sign of a practice that respects your time and your decision-making.

Consider How Comfortable You Actually Feel

This one sounds soft, but it matters clinically. Patients who feel comfortable at a dental practice come back. Patients who dread it skip appointments. And we already know what skipping appointments costs over time.

Dental anxiety is genuinely common. A practice that acknowledges it, adjusts its approach, and takes extra time when needed is doing something meaningful. At Marcincin Family Dental, the team takes extra time to make sure patients feel comfortable, informed, and relaxed throughout visits. That is not marketing language, it is what separates practices people stay with from ones they keep meaning to change.

Patient reviews give you an unfiltered view of this. When reviews consistently mention a specific hygienist by name, or describe a child who was afraid of the dentist and left feeling fine, that is a useful signal.

Why Families in Bethlehem Choose Marcincin Family Dental

Why Families in Bethlehem Choose Marcincin Family Dental

Dr. Terry Marcincin is a lifelong Bethlehem resident. He has been practicing here for over 40 years, which means he has seen generations of the same families through their dental care. That kind of local rootedness is rare, and it translates into a practice that genuinely knows the community it serves.

The Lehigh Valley communities Marcincin Family Dental serves include Bethlehem, Easton, Allentown, Hellertown, Nazareth, and surrounding areas. The practice is located at 2223 Linden Street in Bethlehem, easily accessible from across the region.

Evidence-based dentistry. A welcoming environment. A team that sees patients of all ages. Transparent communication about treatment and costs. Emergency availability. And a practice that has been part of Bethlehem for four decades.

That is a reasonable standard to hold any family dentist to, and it is what you will find here.

Questions People Ask When Choosing a Dentist

How will I know if the dentist is open for new patients in Bethlehem?

The simplest way is to make a call. At Marcincin Family Dental, they accept new patients regardless of age; families in Bethlehem and the greater Lehigh Valley area looking for a dental practice are welcome.

Do I need to find a dentist close to Bethlehem?

Location does make a difference; it would be less likely that you miss your appointments with a nearby practice, which is crucial, especially in emergencies. The dental clinic in question is located in Bethlehem and serves patients across the Lehigh Valley.

If my child suffers from dental anxiety, how can the dentist help?

Our dental professionals have experience working with anxious patients of all ages; we will always inform you beforehand about each procedure, and we proceed with everything slowly and patiently. Please tell our secretary about it when calling, and the appointment will be made according to your preferences.
